8-Year-Old ‘Mini AOC’ Forced to Close Social Media Accounts After Doxxing, Death Threats

An 8-year-old who became an instant internet hit for being a look-alike (and possessing the same intelligence level) as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has been forced to close her social media accounts after members of the political left doxxed her and left threatening voicemails on the phones of her relatives.

Who: “Mini AOC,” whose first name is Ava, became an internet celebrity for her uncanny resemblance to Ocasio-Cortez, and made short videos mocking the Congresswoman.

What: “Ava will not being doing any more MINI AOC content. The Left’s Harassment and death threats have gone too far for our family. We have been getting calls on our personal phone numbers. For our safety and for our child’s safety, we deleted all Mini AOC accounts,” the anonymous Twitter account that first shared her videos said.

Where: “Mini AOC” existed most in the Twittersphere, but her videos were viral and shared all over the web.

When: The announcement that the accounts would be shut down was made Wednesday.

Why it matters: Ocasio-Cortez has spent the entire week lambasting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Trump administration over its treatment of children at migrant detention centers, only to have her supporters threaten a child who made a parody account to poke fun at her. Also worth noting, Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL) threatened to prosecute and censor social media users who made fun of members of congress.
