A House resolution to impeach President Donald J. Trump lost by a decisive margin in a Wednesday vote.
What: “The House voted 332-95 to postpone a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Trump on Wednesday, exposing a continuing division among Democrats over whether to impeach the president,” according to Breitbart.
Rep. Al Green (D-TX) had introduced the measure, saying that Trump was “unfit to be president, unfit to represent the American values of decency and morality, respectability and civility, honesty and propriety, reputability and integrity.”
But only 94 of Green’s Democrat colleagues agreed with him. All Republicans, except for three who didn’t vote, and 135 Democrats, plus Independent Justin Amash (MI), voted to table the resolution.
Why It Matters: The vote shows the divide in the Democratic Party, as the young, far-leftists move the party towards insanity, while older more centrist Democrats try to maintain a semblance of centrism. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has said she does not want to impeach Trump for fear of making him appear stronger when the impeachment vote in the Senate, requiring a 2/3 majority, would inevitably fail.
The Rundown reported this morning on the Democrat divide. Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and friends in the “progressive” wing of the party are threatening more centrist members with primary opponents.
