Judicial Watch, Minnesota House Rep Call for Ethics Probe into Ilhan Omar

A state lawmaker in Minnesota is calling for an ethics investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) who allegedly married her brother in an immigration fraud scheme.

Who: State Representative Steve Drazkowski (R).

What: “Drazkowski said he is filing a formal request to the Committee on Ethics for the U.S. House of Representatives, requesting an investigation of Omar for allegations of tax and student loan fraud, perjury and bigamy,” according to CBS4. “Judicial Watch, a conservative foundation, also filed a separate complaint to the committee.”

“Ilhan Omar has already established a lengthy and extraordinary record of legal convictions and fines,” Drazkowski reportedly said. “This is a record upon which a House Ethics Committee should begin its investigation.

Why It Matters: It appears all-but-certain that Omar was married to her brother at the same time she was married to her current husband.

Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch agrees.

“The evidence is overwhelming Rep. Omar may have violated the law and House rules.  The House of Representatives must urgently investigate and resolve the serious allegations of wrongdoing by Rep. Omar,” he said in a statement. “We encourage Americans to share their views on Rep. Omar’s apparent misconduct with their congressmen.”
