Police Stepping Up Patrols at Minnesota Mosque After Man Brings Dog on Property

After the Council on Islamic-American Relations (CAIR) posted a video accusing a man of “Islamophobia” for bringing his dog onto the property of a Minnesota mosque, police are upping their patrols.

Who: An unidentified man brought a dog onto the property of a mosque, and is now being investigated by police.

What: “Authorities in the city have stepped up patrols around the mosque which is located on 4th Avenue South, just off the St. Cloud State University campus,” according to KSTP.

Where: St. Cloud, Minnesota.

When: Last week.

Why It Matters: Minnesota is a hub for Muslim-Americans, and now police are using their resources specifically to protect the “Religion of Peace.” CAIR, a designated terrorist organization in the United Arab Emirates, is leaning on American authorities. Dogs are considered unclean in Islam.

“We know particularly with anti-Muslim websites that they aim to desecrate mosques with pig’s blood, and also dogs, this definitely was a concern for us,” said Jaylani Hussein, Executive Director of Minnesota CAIR said.

The St. Cloud Police commented on the incident, too.

“If this was done with intentions to harass, or intentions to cause fear, we are going to pursue it that way if that’s what we end up finding,” St. Cloud Police Assistant Chief Jeffery Oxton reportedly said. “If there’s another explanation for it, we’ll go down that road as well.”
