Despite that fact that Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and her freshman friends in Congress had a conniption over President Donald J. Trump’s “go back” comments last week, it turns out that Tlaib called for Trump to be deported in 2017.
What: “Deport this asshole!” Tlaib said on her Twitter account in 2017, attaching a factually inaccurate article from The Guardian claiming that Trump want to “ban all Muslims” from the United States.
Trump ended up implementing a temporary halt on travel from seven majority Muslim nations – ultimately deemed Constitutional by the Supreme Court specifically because the halt in travel was not aimed at a religious group, but rather all people from certain countries, regardless of religion.
Why It Matters: There was a supposed crisis of the American conscience, when, last week, Trump directed Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to “go back” to Somalia, her country of birth, and fix it before she criticized the United States. Tlaib weighed in multiple times on Trump’s comments on Twitter, chastising him despite the fact that she called for his deportation.
She made a video calling him a “bully” and a “racist.”
Later, she Retweeted fellow freshman House Rep. Ayanna Pressley, who called Trump racist over his Tweets.
She even echoed a Tweet by notorious race huckster and white man Shaun King, who called Trump a “white supremacist” over his comments.
This is another perfect example of leftist double standards at their finest. One set of rules for themselves, and another for their political foes.
