‘Sex and the City’ Creator Regrets Choosing Career Over Having Family

The author of “Sex and the City” – whose book inspired a television show in which the main character, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, chooses her career over motherhood – now says she made a mistake by doing the same in her real life.

“But Sex and the City creator Candace Bushnell, 60, has admitted that she regrets choosing a career over having children as she is now ‘truly alone,” according to Daily Mail.

Bushnell is something of a feminist icon – a former sex columnist whose show tried to teach women they could “have it all.” But after her 2012 divorce, she said she realized she made a mistake in not starting a family.

“When I was in my thirties and forties, I didn’t think about it,” she reportedly said. “Then when I got divorced and I was in my fifties, I started to see the impact of not having children and of truly being alone. I do see that people with children have an anchor in a way that people who have no kids don’t.”
