Today is the Fourth Anniversary of Kate Steinle’s Death

Four years ago, Kate Steinle was killed by an illegal alien who claimed that the shooting was accidental, sparking a national debate about American border security. The suspect, who was eventually acquitted on murder, involuntary manslaughter, and assault with a deadly weapon charges, had been previously deported from the United States five times.

Who: Kate Steinle, 32, an American citizen, was shot and killed by José Inez García Zárate, an illegal alien.

What: Zárate was a five-time deportee from the United States, who crossed the border with ease.

Where: San Francisco, California.

When: 2015.

Why it matters: Border security has been a hotly debated issue in the era of President Donald J. Trump. Steinle, who was with her father when she was shot, would likely be alive today but for lax border security. Trump has attempted to secure the Southern border, but has been blocked by establishment GOPers like the Koch Brothers, who profit from cheap, illegal labor and lobby GOP politicians to keep the border open, and Democrats who benefit from illegals who fraudulently vote, and an overall shift in voter demographics.
