Trump to Celebrate 4th of July By Deporting Illegals?

President Donald J. Trump said during a bill signing Monday in the Oval Office that “a lot of people” are going to be deported by U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) after July 4th, according to The Epoch Times.

Who: President Donald J. Trump

What: “After July 4th, a lot of people are going to be brought back out. So people that come up may be here for a short while, but they’re going to be back to their countries,” he reportedly said.

When: Trump made the announcement Monday, vowing to deport illegal aliens after Independence Day.

Where: Trump made the announcement at the Oval Office. There are approximately 22 million illegal aliens residing in the United States illegally, according to a Yale study.

Why it matters: Illegal immigration is a hotbed issue for American voters, and one of the primary reasons why Trump was elected. He vowed to close the southern border with Mexico and deport illegal aliens living in the United States. His administration has had little success securing funding to build a wall, as he has been blocked by establishment Republicans and Democrats. Three weeks ago, he announced that he would begin the deportation process of 2,000 illegals who already had deportation orders, but halted the plan in order to try to bring Democrats to the negotiating table. Many of Trump’s ardent supporters have suggested that he must act on illegal immigration as a sign of good faith to his base before the 2020 election.
