Former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he would challenge President Donald J. Trump to a pushup competition in the event that Trump wants to compare energy levels.
What: “I’d say, ‘C’mon Donald. C’mon man. How many push-ups do you want to do here, pal?'” Biden told co-host Mika Brzezinski,” Daily Mail reported.
Trump infamously labeled Jeb Bush “low energy” during the 2016 Republican primary, an insult that did not have a response Jeb’s playbook. Biden, 76, is facing questions about whether he is too old to be president.
“I mean, jokingly. C’mon. Run with me, man,” Biden continued.
The former vice president has previously threatened to “beat the hell out of” Trump, and “take him behind the gym,” over comments Trump made about women.
Why It Matters: Biden is clearly anticipating that Trump will hit him for being feeble or weak on the campaign trail. Biden did not seem particularly sharp during the first Democratic Primary debate, fueling skepticism over his ability to run an effective campaign.
