AOC’s Top Staff Out After Multiple Controversies

New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s top staff is out after enduring multiple recent controversies.

“Saikat has decided to leave the office of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to work with [nonprofit group] New Consensus to further develop plans for a Green New Deal,” Corbin Trent, Ocasio-Cortez director of communications, told The Intercept.

Saikat Chakrabarti was AOC’s Chief of Staff. He helped lead her campaign and is a founder of the far-left Justice Democrats PAC, which backed her campaign. He has been involved in numerous tiffs with Democratic Party leadership, whom the AOC camp considers too moderate. He is an infamous supporter of Subhas Chandra Bose, the violent Indian revolutionary, and has been at the center of AOC’s alleged campaign finance malfeasance, both of which I wrote about in my unauthorized biography of the congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Her Mysterious Rise from Bartender to Congresswoman

Trent himself, whom I interviewed exclusively for the book and who served as AOC’s spokesman, is moving from AOC’s staff to her 2020 campaign.
