President Donald J. Trump Tuesday night took to Twitter to blast a 2020 Democrat presidential hopeful for giving himself a Hispanic nickname, despite the fact that he is Irish.

“Beto (phony name to indicate Hispanic heritage) O’Rourke, who is embarrassed by my last visit to the Great State of Texas, where I trounced him, and is now even more embarrassed by polling at 1% in the Democrat Primary, should respect the victims & law enforcement – & be quiet!” Trump said on Twitter.

He was referring to failed U.S. Senate candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, who was once considered a young, upstart Democrat presidential candidate. O’Rourke, the Irish son-in-law of a billionaire who grew up in El Paso, Texas, but went to high school at one of the most expensive prep schools in America, has dropped like a rock in polling, while he has been overshadowed by Mayor Pete Buttigieg from South Bend, Indiana.

He has been on the offense, trying to salvage his campaign by politicizing a mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart over the weekend.

“He’s not tolerating violence, he’s inciting racism and violence in this country,” O’Rourke said after the shooting.

He then launched into an expletive-filled tirade against Trump.

“You know the shit he’s been saying. He’s been calling Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals. I don’t know, like, members of the press, what the fuck?” he said.
