Represenative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), better known as AOC, encouraged people on Twitter to raise money for the bail fund of violent Antifa activists.
36 Antifa members were arrested at the Straight Pride Parade in Boston this weekend. In a tweet, AOC suggested that people support the “activists” who stood against the “white supremacist parade.”
One way to support the local LGBTQ community impacted by Boston’s white supremacist parade?

Here’s an example of the peaceful activism that Antifa engaged in on Saturday:
🚨ALERT🚨 Boston Antifa threatened me w/ assault, threw liquid on me, called me a N*zi, & refused to engage in civil dialogue.
They tried to form a mob around my crew, but we don’t play childish games. It’s hard to convince people you’re against fascism when u use their tactics pic.twitter.com/RDR8Tf9lEn

Jon Crowley, a member of Antifa, told the Boston Herald that they knew violence was the only way to stop the so-called white supremacists:
We’re covered in black so when we attack these guys we can’t be prosecuted… They are fascists, 100%. How else are you going to get them to shut up?”
The replies to AOC were a mix of ridicule and anger that she was siding with violent mobs.
@RepAOC & @AyannaPressley sitting members of Congress are aiding and abetting 34 people arrested for being violent at our #StraightPrideParade , including 9 for Assault and battery on a police officer, and 5 A&B w/ a deadly weapon.https://t.co/lGlqC9NIw8

Three of the protestors, who have been charged with assaulting police officers, were told to “stay out of Boston” by Judge Thomas Horgan, until their next court appearance in November. Another judge, Richard Sinnott, had to deny requests from prosecutors to drop 7 charges against the protestors. Larry Calderone, a representative of Boston’s police officers, said that they were “very happy” with the decisions of the judges.
David Marcus, writing in The Federalist, decried the behavior of prosecutors who wanted to dismiss the charges against Antifa members:
That prosecutors would seek dismissal of charges against those accused of being involved in the mischief of putting police at risk, and that congresswomen would applaud them, is extremely disturbing. The men and women of our nation’s police forces, who represent every possible demographic group our wonderfully diverse society has, deserve better. They deserve respect… The judges in Boston did the right thing. Hopefully this will become a growing trend and Antifa will learn that their violent antics won’t simply be put up with because of a wrongheaded and simplistic notion that they are on the right side of history.
AOC has come under fire recently for describing ICE facilities as “concentration camps. Since her comments, there have been several attacks against ICE facilities, including one woman who threw a molotov cocktail into a USCIS office building.
