‘Beto Specials:’ Arizona Gun Store Offers Promo After Candidate Vows Confiscation, Sells Out of Rifles

After running what he called “Beto Specials,” Alpha Dog Firearms Owner Matt Boggs found his semiautomatic rifles, including AR-15’s and AK-47’s selling like hotcakes, leading to a shortage in stock.

“I saw the comments that he made, and I was kinda like, ‘You know what: the Hell with this guy,'” Boggs, who sells firearms in Tempe, Arizona, said.

After flailing presidential candidate Robert Francis ‘Beto’ O’Rourke promised to confiscate semi-automatic rifles at last week’s Democratic Party primary debate, Boggs took to his store’s Facebook page, announcing that he was running a promotion:

Beto O’Rourke said “hell yes we’re taking your AR’s”. Well Beto, we’re discounting AR15’s to such a low price that EVERY AMERICAN can afford one. How about the low low price of just $349.99? Yeah, that works. Available online only. Go to www.alphadogfirearmsaz.com and look for all our AR15 and AK47 deals under the BETO SPECIALS tab. Deals and discounts will be added fresh all day!

That led to a flurry of sales – over 200 in two hours – which prompted the owner post another update:

UPDATE: SOLD OUT. More deals will be on the website soon. Y’all broke our internet today!!!

At least when O’Rourke finally drops out of the primary, he’ll come away with a consolation prize: Tempe’s top gun salesman.
