Catholic Priest Stands Against Abortion, Refuses Communion to Biden

Former Vice President and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden was denied the Catholic Sacrament of Holy Communion when he attended mass in Florence, South Carolina last weekend.

Holy Communion is one of seven sacraments given by the Catholic Church and the only one which parishioners nay receive every time they attend Mass. In communion, a parishioner received a pressed wafer and wine that is consecrated to become the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

Biden attended the 9:00 am Mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church where Father Anthony Morley refused to give him the Sacrament because of the Presidential Candidate’s pro abortion, anti life beliefs.

“Sadly, this past Sunday, I had to refuse Holy Communion to Vice President Joe Biden. Holy Communion signifies we are one with God, each other and the Church. Our actions should reflect that any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of Church teaching,” Morley said.

When asked if Biden attended Mass at St. Anthony’s on Sunday, a spokesperson for his campaign would not provide confirmation but said if he did, it was done “off the schedule.”

It’s not surprising that this incident did not receive play in the Secular mainstream media. Any serious Catholic or knowledgeable Christian will understand the magnitude of this stinging rebuke of Biden by Father Morey. Though the hierarchy of the Catholic Church might frown on such a blatant punishment of a member of the congregation by one of their Priests, Morey should be commended for following his faith and taking a stand, no matter who attends his Church.
