PewDiePie Quits Twitter, Slams Mainstream Press

PewDiePie, (real name Felix Kjellberg) one of the biggest content producers on YouTube, has deleted his entire Twitter presence following media smears of his announcement that he will be taking a break from YouTube. He quit Twitter voluntarily, claiming that social media is destroying society, and directly remarking upon Socrates, Plato & Aristotle.

PewDiePie has been in the media most recently when he donated and retracted $50,000 to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) after they smeared him as “Alt Right.” The organization suffered after PewDiePie’s retraction, causing it to hire actor Sasha Baron Cohen to boost the organization’s popularity, which backfired in public backlash.

PewDiePie released a video shortly after his announcement titled “I hate Twitter.” He specifically called out the needless “moral posturing” that takes place there, using the example of author J.K. Rowling retroactively changing the sexualities of “Harry Potter” characters. He has also been discussing the failing YouTube terms of service which have seen mass exodus and purge of content creators, many of whom have left for alternative platforms.

“It explains why the site has become such a cesspool of opinion,” PewDiePie said in the video.

“People just can’t seem to help themselves from pointing out what is good and what is bad, or how others are bad and you are good, to a point where it almost becomes fiction just to satisfy this need,” he continued.

The world famous YouTube star has donated millions to charity and organized charity drives resulting in millions of dollars in donations, and has often been smeared despite being one of the most popular online personalities across the globe.
