Thursday night, Tucker Carlson sounded the alarm on his primetime Fox News show about the New Way Forward Act, described by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) as “the most radical immigration bill of all time.”
In a nine minute monologue, Carlson dissected the contents of the bill, which among other disastrous policy proposals, would decriminalize crossing the border illegally, and prevent law enforcement from arresting suspected illegal aliens.
But perhaps most significant is one paragraph of the 4,400 word bill, which appears to grant amnesty to any illegal alien who has resided in the United States for more than five years by imposing a statute of limitations on deportations.
“[A]ny removal proceeding against an alien previously admitted to the United States for being within a class of deportable aliens described in section 237(a)(2), or within a class of inadmissible aliens described in section 212(a)(2), shall not be entertained unless commenced not later than the date that is five years after the date on which the alien became deportable or inadmissible,” Sec.201(3)(A) of the bill says.
A 2019 Yale University study concluded that there are at least 22 million illegal aliens residing in the United States.
It appears that if the New Way Forward Act were passed and signed into law, the majority of them would be granted amnesty by virtue of having resided in the United States for more than five years.
The bill was introduced by Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García (D-IL), and co-sponsored by 44 of the members of the radically-left contingent of the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives. It is currently in committee.
Co-sponsors include Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
The Rundown News reached out to García’s office for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.
