Philly District Attorney Helps Six-Time Arrested Illegal Alien Escape ICE Custody

According to a U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) press release, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office intervened to stop the federal law enforcement agency from arresting an illegal alien who has been arrested by local law enforcement at least six times in the past two years.

The press release listed a litany of crimes allegedly committed by the 36-year-old Mexican national since 2018, who was not named.

The crimes included: simple assault, disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering another, aggravated assault, simple assault, possession of an instrument of a crime, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and failure to appear.

The press release said that local law enforcement entities had ignored three ICE detainers lodged against the illegal alien.

“Despite the man’s multiple run-ins with local law enforcement and his failure to appear for several hearings related to his criminal proceedings, the Philadelphia district attorney’s office wrote a letter to an immigration judge in York, PA, which was used as supporting evidence to help get him a favorable custody decision and ultimately released from ICE custody,” the press release said.

In other words, the illegal alien who has shown blatant disregard for America’s laws was given a literal get-out-of-jail-free card.

After the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office lobbied for his release, the illegal alien was arrested again, this time charged with violent crimes including aggravated assault, simple assault, possession of an instrument of a crime and recklessly endangering another person.

Once again, the Philadelphia Police Department refused to honor ICE’s detainer, and set the criminal alien free.

The back-and-forth with local law enforcement eventually culminated in an arrest of the suspect by ICE itself at the end of January. That effort could have been avoided if the locales had simply turned the man over as requested any of the numerous times he had been arrested.

ICE is engaged in a full-scale war with so-called “sanctuary cities,” and is using as much power as allowed by law to force the cities into cooperating with them.

The federal law enforcement agency recently subpoenaed the cities of Denver and New York for information on four illegal aliens residing in each city, all of whom had been released from custody despite ICE retainers.
